Oud is the dark, resinous heartwood of the agarwood tree. Its scent is deep, smoky, sweet and slightly animalic, unlike any other raw material.
In modern perfumery, oud is blended with rose, saffron, amber or leather to soften and shape it. Attars present it in its purest, alcohol-free oil form.
